International, 15.3.2011: Case: new furniture and mirrors with added value for users and fitters
Laufen has revised its entire Case furniture range, and in doing so, the Swiss bathroom specialist has attached particular importance to high quality drawer fittings and surface finishes in a select wood look. An extensive mirror collection with illumination completes the range and offers the added appeal of being excellent value for money.
The Laufen Case furniture and mirror collection is a versatile practical solution for all room situations. Designer Andreas Dimitriadis has created Case along the minimalist lines of the architectural modern style with its timeless look so that it can be combined with lots of interior design styles. As Andreas Dimitriadis explains, “With its simple understated elegance, Case is a beautiful example of how visual devices can create a distinctive, exclusive – and affordable – look”. The attraction of the new furniture elements and mirrors indeed derives not only from their many clever functions and high quality but also because they are excellent value for money.
The basis of the Case collection is its vanity units in widths of 450 to 1800 mm. They are available in different versions with one or two drawers and, from a width of 1200 mm with doors. The collection also includes a medium cabinet and a tall cabinet with two or four glass shelves. Case is available in the trend colour White, limed or anthracite oak graining. The matte, easy-to-clean surface is highly resistant to scratches, water and UV light. In the limed and anthracite oak versions, they have a distinct 3D texture, closely akin to the feel and look of real wood. 38 other colours, in a matte varnished finish, are available at an extra charge.
The Swiss bathroom specialist has also attached particular importance to the high quality fittings on the drawers – fully extendable, they feature sturdy metal sides and, with the integrated soft-close mechanism, always close gently and noiselessly. For the drawer fittings and door hinges Laufen also opts for high-quality brand goods designed for a long lifespan. A practical hand towel holder can optionally be attached to the side. This can be easily installed thanks to pilot drill holes on the inside of the furniture.
As Laufen has used a new type of shallow siphon here, no space is wasted on a siphon cut-out in the drawer – a genuine innovation. The Swiss bathroom specialists have modified the proven siphon design accordingly and also secured the exclusive distribution rights. The top drawers have a recessed handle, the bottom drawers a sleek aluminium handle. Wall mounting the furniture is incredibly easy and straightforward thanks to a flexible, adjustable 3D attachment system.
A perfect complement to the Case furniture is the extensive mirror collection of the same name. The 6 mm high quality mirrors are available in ten different sizes and two kinds of light fitment – the planner can therefore choose between twenty different versions when seeking the optimum lighting solution for the bathroom. Like the furniture, the design of the mirrors is minimalist and timeless, and thus an excellent match for most of Laufen’s bathroom collections. Reflecting back of the wall behind, the light indirectly illuminates the mirror thus creating a relaxed atmosphere. At the front, matt light fitments provide optimum illumination of the face for applying make-up or shaving. Optionally, the light can be switched on and off with a concealed touch-free sensor control. Laufen has selected energy-saving T5 fluorescent tubes for the lights. They can be easily replaced without having to take down the mirror and their design complies with Standard IP 44. Safety film affords extra protection on the vulnerable areas at the edges of the mirror glass. Their excellent value for money make Case mirrors an interesting proposition both for the private and public projects.
