International, 15.3.2011: Home spa solutions for individual bathrooms
A modern bathroom suite would not be complete without customised solutions for the user’s well-being that merge seamlessly into sophisticated bathrooms and offer lots of comfortable functions. Laufen is therefore updating and enhancing its home spa range. New additions include two innovative control systems for the Swiss bathroom specialist’s whirl systems and new bathtubs and shower trays in sanitary acrylic and steel.
Laufen has devised an ingenious solution for controlling its whirl systems. In future, the present pneumatic and electronic controls will be replaced by a user-friendly sensor control integrated in the bathtub rim, and in the top-of-the-range segment, by a multifunction remote control.
Innovative remote control
Laufen guarantees enhanced comfort for its top-of-the range bathtubs like those of the ILBAGNOALESSI One bathroom collection with the new remote control. The watertight casing in the sleek design of a media player conceals premium technology. Aside from the whirl system control, an MP3 player, radio and sound system are included. Clear, user-friendly operation with control buttons and screen give the user full control over all the whirl system functions and can, for instance, be used to play back pre-selected spa treatment relaxation programmes and music or to put together the user’s own programmes. Another new function is one which allows the user to control a chromed, LED-illuminated outlet which creates a hazy mist over the surface of the water.
The excellence of the music functions on the remote control are plain to see and hear. The integrated MP3 player has a 2 GB memory for the user’s favourite songs which can either be played over headphones or a powerful 4.1 sound system with four 30 watt loudspeakers and a 100 watt subwoofer. The Music can also be transmitted wirelessly via Bluetooth 2.0 or a USB cable from other external devices. Practical when enjoying a relaxing bath: A quick select button provides easy access to the music collection or radio. The remote control can attach to the bathtub rim where it is securely held in place by concealed magnets.
Integrated bathtub rim control
Laufen is also more than a little proud of an innovative whirl system control via touch-sensitive sensors integrated in the bathtub rim. In contrast to the controls of conventional whirl systems, the touch sensors are integrated flush with the tub rim. This is not just simple and ingenious, but also safe, scratchproof, hygienic and easy to clean and does not detract from the attractive appeal of the bathtub. The programmes for water and air massage, LED light and cleaning are controlled by simply touching the illuminated symbols lasered onto the tub rim. Perfected safety functions ensure that only one function can be performed at a time and that the user is warned if the water level is too low or the cleaning agent needs topping up. Laufen already introduced this system successfully two years ago on the Mimo series bathtubs – and it now intends to gradually incorporate this successful feature on its entire range of bathtubs.
When it comes to making their bathroom dreams come true, most people have no more than a few square metres to play with. So that even compact and challenging bathroom layouts can be transformed into veritable masterpieces, Laufen Solutions offers a range of bathtubs and shower trays with suitable dimensions for every bathroom. To cover even more built-in situations the Swiss bathroom specialist is now extending this range to include new bathtubs and shower trays in sanitary acrylic. In all, bathroom planners can choose between 17 bathtubs and 16 shower trays in various sizes, shapes and versions.
New additions include a 1700 x 750 mm rectangular bathtub with centre outlet, a corner bathtub measuring 1500 x 1500 mm, both available with panels, and a 1700 x 750 mm oval bathtub as a built-in or freestanding version. The intelligently devised geometries of the shower trays and bathtubs enhance one’s feeling of well being, for the comfortable inclination of the back rest and luxuriant 46 cm deep tubs, as well as the ample base dimensions, promise pure bathing enjoyment. For ultimate enjoyment, all bathtubs can also be equipped with the proven Laufen whirl system.
Also new to the range are four shower trays measuring 1000 x 800, 1000 x 900, 1400 x 800 and 1700 x 800 mm. At just 45 mm, they are ultra-shallow and thus also ideally suited for bathroom makeovers. Laufen has selected high quality, skin friendly sanitary acrylic as the material for the new bathtubs and shower trays. It not only feels pleasant and warm to the touch, it also assures a good foothold under the shower, is hygienic, easy to clean and simple to install.
Indestructible bathtubs and shower trays in steel
As an alternative to sanitary acrylic, the Swiss bathroom specialist also offers the new bathtubs and shower trays in enamelled steel. The new 1700 x 750 or 1800 x 800 mm rectangular bathtub with central outlet is made of virtually indestructible 3.5 mm thick steel.
The new quarter-circle enamelled steel shower tray measuring 900 x 900 and 1000 x 1000 mm is also exceptionally durable. A rectangular shower tray in the dimensions 1200 x 800 and 1400 x 800 mm complete the offering, and here too 3.5 mm steel guarantees a long service life. All shower trays can be selected in 25 or 65 mm depths, the flat version is also suitable for floor-level integration.
The steel bathtubs and shower trays in combination with an anti-noise set feature integrated sound insulation whose compliance with DIN 4109 and SIA 181 was certified by the Fraunhofer Institute, and can also be equipped with Antislip coating for a firm foothold.
It is typical of Laufen that, thanks to their timelessly clear design, both the sanitary acrylic and steel bathtubs and shower trays can be beautifully coordinated with all the bathroom collections of the bathroom suite specialist. Their high quality and function make them the obvious choice when planning or modernising a bathroom.
